Chris Ramirez, Mark Quatrani, Caden Mcdonald and Isaiah Magdaleno Earn National Recognition from College Baseball Foundation

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Chris Ramirez (Cal Baptist), Mark Quatrani (Notre Dame), Caden McDonald (Florida) and Isaiah Magdaleno (Hawai’i) earned weekly honors from the College Baseball Foundation (CBF) for their respective performances last week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Ramirez earned the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week while Quatrani was named the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Week. McDonald earned the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week. Magdaleno was selected as the National Pitcher of the Week.

Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week (Nation’s Most Outstanding Shortstop)

Chris Ramirez, SS, Sophomore, Cal Baptist, Corona, California

Chris Ramirez led Cal Baptist to a perfect week and a series sweep of Utah Valley--securing head coach Gary Adcock’s 800th career win--by tying the program’s modern hit record with a six-hit game featuring two doubles, a home run and three RBI after a four-hit, two-home run, one double, four-RBI outing. For the week, he hit .700 (14-for-20) with five doubles, three home runs, nine runs and nine RBI, while contributing defensively to three double plays on five putouts and 10 assists.

Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Week

Mark Quatrani, C, Junior, Notre Dame, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Mark Quatrani powered Notre Dame to a perfect week, including a sweep of Stanford, after batting .632 (12-for-19) with three doubles, a home run, 11 RBI, five runs and three walks while posting four straight multi-hit games. He was errorless behind the plate, threw out three of four runners, guided Jack Radel to a career-high 12-strikeout outing, and delivered a pivotal two-run double in game two to clinch the series.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week Award

Caden McDonald, 1B/RHP, Sophomore, Florida, Tampa, Florida

Florida’s Caden McDonald delivered a historic all-around performance, going 4-for-5 with 12 total bases, two homers, two doubles, six RBI and three runs, then earning the win with three scoreless relief innings against Oklahoma on May 2. He set single-game career highs across the board and capped the week hitting .462 (6-for-13) with five runs while striking out four and allowing just one hit on the mound.

National Pitcher of the Week

Isaiah Magdaleno, RHP, Junior, Hawai'i, Los Angeles, California

Junior right-hander Isaiah Magdaleno starred for Hawai'i with a complete-game shutout, carrying a no-hitter into the ninth in a 1-0 win over UC Riverside. He struck out a career-high 16, faced 30 batters, and was perfect through 6.1 innings, marking the program’s first complete game since 2023. He is one of three pitchers in program history -- and the first since 1979 -- to strike out at least 16 batters in a game. He is the only pitcher in the country this year to pitch a complete-game shutout with at least 16 strikeouts.

Brooks Wallace Award

The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.

Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award

Established in 2000, by the Wichita Sports Commission, the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding catcher. Posey began his collegiate career as a shortstop, before moving to catcher where he won the 2008 Johnny Bench Award, Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award. In his MLB career with the San Francisco Giants, Posey earned three world series titles, seven All-Star Game selections, five Silver Slugger Awards, the 2010 National League Rookie of the Year, 2012 National League MVP and was a 2016 Gold Glove Award winner.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award

The John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award is presented annually by the College Baseball Foundation to honor the nation's top combo pitcher-position player. Olerud, who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, was a standout pitcher and first baseman at Washington State University from 1987 through 1989. The Olerud Award partners with 64 Analytics to assist with the identification of players for the weekly award as well as watch lists.

National Pitcher of the Year Award

The Pitcher of the Year award, college baseball's version of the Cy Young Award which was created in 2009, is given annually to the nation's top collegiate pitcher.
