College Baseball Hall of Fame Launches National “Be Kind. Be a Champion” Anti-Bullying Billboard Campaign with Alex Gordon and Joe Carter

Overland Park, Kansas — The College Baseball Hall of Fame has launched a powerful new national anti-bullying billboard campaign as part of its character education initiative, “Be Kind. Be a Champion.”

“Be Kind. Be a Champion.” is a national character education and anti-bullying program created by the College Baseball Hall of Fame to inspire the next generation of leaders. Through the support of Lamar Advertising, the campaign’s visibility will extend into neighborhoods and communities where positive messaging can make a meaningful impact.

The initiative uses the game of baseball to teach important life lessons such as kindness, integrity, perseverance, and leadership. By sharing the stories of legendary college players, the program encourages young athletes to lead by example — both on and off the field — while promoting respect, inclusion, and positive behavior in schools, sports teams, and communities nationwide.

The billboard campaign features World Series champions and College Baseball Hall of Famers Alex Gordon and Joe Carter, whose collegiate and professional careers exemplify perseverance, leadership, and sportsmanship. Their message reinforces that being a champion is not defined solely by athletic achievement — it is defined by character.

The campaign brings together students from schools across the Kansas City metro area in a powerful regional collaboration that showcases the depth of talent, character, and community spirit rooted in our city. By uniting schools and student-athletes under one shared initiative, the campaign highlights how baseball continues to serve as a bridge across neighborhoods—fostering leadership, academic excellence, and opportunity while strengthening Kansas City’s reputation as a national leader in the sport.

About the College Baseball Hall of Fame

Each year, more than 200 representatives nationwide vote on the College Baseball Hall of Fame induction class. The voting body is comprised of national and regional college baseball media, active and retired coaches, former players, former inductees, college baseball historians, and members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) collegiate baseball committee. The Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 2006. Since that time, 175 players, coaches, umpires, administrators, and contributors have been selected for induction.

In 2026, the College Baseball Hall of Fame will establish a permanent physical location in Overland Park, housed within the iconic Museum at Prairiefire. This dynamic and ever-evolving space will serve as a shared community asset, deepening connections to the nation’s favorite pastime while celebrating the rich past, present, and future of college baseball.
